TavKey in one paragraph
TavKey lets trusted family members check whether they see the same private, rotating signal, so a suspicious call can be checked without relying on the voice. Family members add each other in person, with their phones held close together. After that, every family phone shows the same signal - a color, an animal and a two-digit number - and it changes every minute. When a caller says they are family, you ask what their TavKey shows right now. A real family member sees the same thing. An impostor, even one using a cloned voice, does not.

How it works
- One person creates a family on their phone.
- Others join in person. The two phones are held close together, and the family member approves once both screens show the same picture.
- Every family phone then shows the same signal - a color, an animal and a two-digit number - and it changes every minute.
- On a suspicious call, ask: “What does your TavKey show right now?” A real family member sees the same signal.
Privacy and security
- No accounts, no ads, no contact upload and no social features.
- TavKey never listens to calls or analyzes audio.
- Nobody can be added to a family remotely. There is no code, link or QR code that could be read out or forwarded - a new phone joins only when it is held next to a family member’s phone.
- The family’s private key is kept in the phone’s secure storage (the Android Keystore or the iPhone Keychain) and is only shared during an approved in-person pairing.
- Because there is no server holding a family’s key, a phone can’t be switched off remotely. If a phone is lost, the family creates a new family and pairs again in person.
What TavKey is not
TavKey is not a scam detector. It doesn’t judge the call or the voice - it checks the person, so it works alongside call-screening and detection tools rather than replacing them.
TavKey adds a useful check, but no app can guarantee that a call is safe. If anything still feels wrong, hang up and call back on a number you already trust.
Founder
Yaron Shemesh built TavKey after an attempted scam targeting a member of his family.
