Accepting these Terms
By using the tavkey.com website or the TavKey app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please don't use the website or the app.
What TavKey is
TavKey gives your family a shared private signal - a color, emoji, and short words that rotate over time and look the same on every family member's phone. When a call feels suspicious, you can ask "what is today's TavKey?" to help confirm you are really talking to someone in your family.
TavKey is free. There are no accounts to create, no sign-ups, and no in-app purchases.
No warranty - provided "as is"
TavKey is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app or website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
A trust signal can be misread, delayed, shown incorrectly, or unavailable - for example because of a device issue, an app bug, a failed pairing, or a phone that is off or offline. Please keep that in mind whenever you rely on it.
Not a substitute for your own judgment
TavKey is one signal among many. It is a helpful aid, not proof of identity and not security advice.
- Never rely on TavKey alone to send money, share passwords or codes, or hand over sensitive personal information.
- If a call feels wrong, hang up and call the person back on a number you already trust.
- A scammer who already has access to a family device may also see the signal - treat the signal as one clue, not a final answer.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TavKey and its operators will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of - or inability to use - the app or website. This includes, without limitation, fraud, scams, or impersonation that TavKey did not prevent, and any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss.
The launch waiting list
Joining the waiting list is voluntary. If you give us your email, we'll send one confirmation that you're on the list and one notification when TavKey launches - nothing else. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send. Full details are in our Website Privacy Notice.
Acceptable use
Please use the website and app fairly. You agree not to abuse, attack, overload, or disrupt the site, the app, the sign-up form, or our servers, and not to attempt to access them in ways they are not meant to be used.
Intellectual property
The TavKey name, content, design, and branding belong to TavKey and its operators. Your use of the app from an app store is also subject to that store's standard license terms (for example, Google Play or the Apple App Store), in addition to these Terms.
Privacy
We take privacy seriously: the TavKey app collects no personal information, and the website only collects an email if you choose to join the waiting list. See our app Privacy Policy and Website Privacy Notice for the details.
Changes to these Terms
If we change these Terms, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be highlighted here so you can see what changed.
